GPs & referrers

Referrals to Bloomfield Health Service are accepted from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. We accept referrals for patients who:

  • Have significant therapeutic needs
  • Who would benefit from family-centred interventions
  • Behave in a highly challenging way
  • Display aggression or agitation
  • Present with psychiatric symptoms of depression or anxiety

Patients with acute psychiatric conditions may require stabilisation before transfer into any of our programmes.

Referral process

The referrer must complete the relevant referral form, including a short risk assessment, and return it to us. Relevant psychiatric, neurological, and forensic reports should be included, as well as assessments, imaging results, and other relevant information including funding sources.

Following receipt of the relevant documentation and confirmation of funding, our clinical team will complete an initial screening. The purpose of this is to identify priority areas to be further explored on admission to the unit. Pertinent reports and other relevant information will be reported back to the referrer.

Completed referral forms and relevant documentation should be sent to us by post, fax, or email:
